Catachan Female with grenade launcher - SOLD

I was a little tired of painting power armours, so for my next model I wanted something different. I usually don't like the Imperial Guard or Astra Militarum or whatever they call them nowadays, but I always make exceptions if I like a miniature.

Also, I never liked Catachans and I always found puzzling the red bandanas. Jungle fighters should know better, shouldn't they?

This is one of those models that should've been a limited release, but that somehow were more common than expected. I always thought it was a Games Day exclusive, but in fact it's not!

Anyway, I went for a more realistic approach and took inspiration from the WWII Waffen SS camo. They did have crazy schemes that look cool on scifi models. In this particular case, I opted for an Oak Leaf pattern. It's very complicated and quite vexing to paint on a 28mm figure, and I'm not so sure I got it right. Luckily it's an Imperial Guardswoman and not a German soldier, so at the end of the day it doesen't matter that much. To keep with the theme I used Feldgrau for the vest and the bandana; added an Imperial Eagle tattoo on the left shoulder, where SS wore the eagle insignia; used black for boots, belt and ammo pouches and used black and red wood for the grenade launcher. The only concession to modern equipment is the completely black machete/combat blade.

Probably I should've painted stronger highlights, but I went for a more natural look.
